August 9: On the Move Again

Today Ben took another big step on the road to recovery. He was transferred from St. Mark's Hospital to a rehabilitation center. When we arrived there a little after noon, he had just arrived and his good friend Annie was helping him to get settled in to his new digs. They say he will have a little time to rest this weekend, then on Monday "the games begin", and they will begin helping him to recover his strength and the ability to do some of the things that are presently difficult for him. Ben continues to have a good attitude and is looking forward to literally getting back on his feet. His body is still weak, but his will and spirit to succeed are strong. His progress to date has been remarkable, and although he still has a long way to go we still hope for a speedy and complete recovery.

Hey Ben and Family! I have been away this week for a conference but it is so great to get caught up on all your progress. I love the photos... you look good! And you look like you're getting better all the time.
I was thinking of you today especially since it's Grandpa's birthday. I'm so glad for all the family get-togethers we've had. Let's do more.
Best wishes and warm hugs. Brynja and Dave and family.

Hello Ben! I work at ARUP and had heard about what happened and got you blog address from Khosrow. I wanted to leave a message for Ben... Hang in there and keep pushing! When ever I saw you at work, you always said hello and were always friendly with me. Thank you for being kind without even knowing it.

Hey Ben,

Like Dave, I just caught up myself. (I was on the road to Canada. (I'm in Vancouver now.) A LOT has happened I can see -- way to go!

I'm very impressed with how hard you're working to recover. It definitely shows. Steady progress. Your dad and Jenni both likened your situation to a marathon. I'm training for one myself, so as an older guy I'm doubly blown away with how fast you're getting there. Go, go, go!

Best wishes.

Your cousin,
Dylan

P.S. Pass on my love to your family.

I've been off line for a while--talk about a miracle! He's out of the hospital? What a relief--but with more work, it seems like you're all hitting it head on. Hope all is well Jenni--I wish I could do more to help.
